Getting out of the driver's way and allowing the aggressive driver to pass is the most effective response in this situation. By creating distance between yourself and the aggressive driver, you reduce the risk of conflict and potential accidents. Allowing them to pass helps to de-escalate the situation, as you remove yourself from any potential confrontation.

While passing the aggressive driver immediately may seem like a proactive approach, it can sometimes lead to further aggression if not done safely. Informing the driver that you will call the police could provoke an even more aggressive response, putting you and other road users in jeopardy. Writing down the driver's license plate number is a good idea for reporting after a dangerous encounter, but it does not help in the moment and could expose you to additional risk. Prioritizing your safety and the safety of others by letting the aggressive driver pass is the wisest choice.
